Airport Billiards & Lounge - 122 N. Military Trail
West Palm Beach, Florida 33415  561-478-1680
It is called "The West Palm Beach Experience." Students from
around the country arrived at Airport Billiards to master The
Monk 101 training program. They were given a 236 page
teaching manual filled with all the shots and strokes they
need to master so they can realize their personal goals. "The
West Palm Beach Experience" featured two women and five
men and one little boy.

Each player expressed exactly what they wanted to get from
this workshop. They talked openly about their goals and how
dedicated they were in trying to reach them. TWPBE Hand-
book was given out and they were assigned to study the first
twenty pages for a test the second day.

"The West Palm Beach Experience" is about knowledge and
skill. Knowledge applied equals skill developed so in
between each shooting series they were called to the front
for a lecture from The Monk or one of the Master Teachers.

Steve Rubin, owner of Airport Billiards, took me for a ride over to Donald Trumps house but he was not
home so we didn't stop in. Steve is a Monk Master Teacher, always ready to help a fellow pool player
along this long and difficult journey.

Steve is also a rock star in this area. He sings, writes his own music and plays guitar. He has a concert
on Saturday night and the students are going to rock the place.

Each time I come down here Steve and I have our dinner match of nine ball, race to seven. I am happy to
say I will be dinning on my friend this trip. While he was ahead, I made reservations at MacDonalds but
when I moved out in front I changed those reservations to Cabrera's Steak House.
THE MAIN EVENT THREE IS SCHEDULED IN NOVEMBER!!!!
Mike Regan wins the WPBE 9 Ball Open
At the end of each day we sponsor a 9 ball tourn-
ament and Mike Regan went through the field
without a loss. He drew had to beat the two
favoites to get a shot at Mike Jacobs in the finals.
When I played him it was hill hill and I sunk a
hanging nine ball to avoid a tough kick and dared
him to run out. When I spotted the nine ball it was
frozen out of line on the five. He broke it out,
made  tough cut on the five and ran out to send
me packing.

Mike works very hard on his game. This is his
second extended workshop with me and his skills
showed clearly in this 9-ball victory. He took home
ten dollars as we all paid a two dollar entry fee.
Mike Jacobs took second.
It was the Mike and Mike show again!!
Mike Regan arrived at the finals only to find Mike Jacobs waiting for him. After a tough match, Mr. Regan was able to take his
second consecutive WPBE 9-Ball Open. After the battle Mike Regan announced that he is taking the entire class out to dinner
tonight. Mike is a class act and will be tested later today in the third WPBE 9-Ball Open.
Thomas Lind was on hand to help the players. He is a
Monk Master from Michigan. He gave a great talk
about the four strokes. He talked about how each
stroke is like having a golf club in your bag. "If you
need to deliver a punch stroke" he said, "you need to
imagine reaching into your back to pull out your
punch stroke club". The same for the follow stroke or
the draw stroke or spin stroke. He taught us to be
aware of what we are doing on each shot and to make
sure we attempt the right shot.
Thomas is working with Eric on a
four rail shape shot.
Thomas was also set up with camera's and computers to do stroke analysis on each student.
Scott Borrassa came down from New York to teach a class on the
jump shot. He was a big hit. The class went crazy jumping balls all
over the place. Here you see Eric and Noni working on their jump
skills. Each member of the class was able to jump when the clinic
was over and twice in the WPBE students used the jump shot to get
out of a safety.

Scott also taught a class on game strategy and how to recognize
patterns when you are running out.
When Scott Borrassa showed up the class started jumping.
Steve Rubin taught a class on sighting. It
was amazing. The students used this unique
system for the rest of the day.

Later Steve invited the Main Event students
to a concert to listen to his band. Wow, they
are good.  He writes a lot of his own music.
I am not a slave driver. We did take time out for some dinner and sunshine.
After each shot the students sign their book.
Mike Jacobs takes second
Mike Regan took first
I nicknamed Brian Roberts "The
Saint" by the way he handles his
son Eric. Brian gives his son
unconditional support with no
critical words on any shot. He does
quit his coaching job from time to
time and tells me to "Go handle
him". The students who passed
get to come back in November as
teachers so we can name seven
year old Eric as Brians coach.
