The Masters of Art in Pocket Billiards program is designed to give you the
dynamic stroke you will need to achieve pocket billiards excellence. Without a
consistent stroke, you will not be able to perform at the highest level. Do not
rush through this part of the training. If you do, when the money is on the line,
you will not be able to finish the run.
You stated in your purpose statement that you want a strong game. You want to
achieve a high performance level. Do you really mean that? We will find out as
you travel through this unique program. The Masters of Art in Pocket Billiards is
for the select few who have the ability to train with total assurance that they will
reach their goals. You must possess a complete faith in your ability to finish the
program.
You will shoot 20 stops shots into the corner pocket. Make sure you go through your entire pre shot routine on each and
every one of these shots. What you focus on you strengthen. Every single time you set up with deliberate action, you
reinforce that quality.
This is your training. You are a master. You have established your personal goal. Act like a master and be faithful to your
work. Persistence is the key to success.
1. HERE IS YOUR FIRST SHOT
Set up a straight in shot. Set up the JR prop in line with the object ball and pocket. I use two rulers. I separate them so
that the OB can fit through with little room to spare. I shoot five shots through these props. I do not stop until I have
succeeded with five. Your cue ball should be about eighteen inches from the object ball. Make a special note on how you
land on the cue ball. Your tip should be right next to the cue ball. Be sure to come to a stop after your practice strokes.
Pause in your back stroke, and take note of you finish at the end. Do this on each and every shot. You are building special
instincts that will enable you to beat just about everyone in your pool hall.
Pool players shoot shots. Masters experience shots.
HERE IS YOUR SECOND SHOT
Set up your straight in shot and then move the cue ball to
the left the distance of one cue ball. Set up your JR
props again in line with the shot. The corner pocket on
most tables will receive two balls side by side. We want
to build accuracy and this is why we have the JR props.
You will pocket more balls with a nice crisp stroke. Shoot
until you have succeeded with five shots.
Make sure you land on the cue ball. Set, pause and finish
your stroke. After you shoot the shot stay in position and
deliver a practice stroke.
HERE IS YOUR THIRD SHOT
Set up straight in on the object ball and then
move the cue ball one cue balls width to the
right. Try hard to hit the cue ball with a dead
center hit. On some shots, look at the cue ball
as you deliver the stroke. Note if you put any
spin on it. Shoot five until you make all five.
You are building your trust skills.
You are building your commitment skills.
You are building your shooting skills.
You will deliver a nice crisp punch stroke on each of these shots

HERE IS YOUR FOURTH SHOT
This is the straight in cross corner stop shot, a great
stroke builder. Set up the OB in dead center of the
table. Set up your cue ball about eighteen inches from
the shot. Set up the props half way to the corner
pocket. Shoot five shots with dead center hit on the
cue ball. I do not mind if you give yourself slight cut
shots on the object ball. It is good to vary it a little.
Note your landing, note your alignment, note how you
feel about the shot and note how much time you take
to deliver the stroke.
Unless your efforts are found in specific training, you will be treading water and going no where.
|
Set up a break shot in straight pool and go as far as you can after the break. The break is free.
If you miss continue your run. Your goal is to run one hundred balls. You get three official
chances each time you do your training.
Here is your training. Print this page out and do this work twelve times.
5 stop shots straight in. ___________ 5 stop shots from the right___________ 5 stop shots from the left____________ 5 cross corner stop shots___________ Do your three attempts at a run in straight pool.

Shoot each one of these cards shots twice. When you complete a shot twice you will get ten points. Once you are able to gain eighty points two times in a row you may then move on to level three. During a game, take time to recognize one of these shots when they come up. Be confident you can handle it.
